5 March 2005

Looking back, MMYC celebrated its 30th anniversary year in 2004 and among many highlights, the Commodore's Sailpast was graced by the Mayor of Medway Councillor Susan Haydock.  Commodore Bob Jennings also represented the club at several official events up and down the river, as well as waving the MMYC flag at the Maidstone River Festival.  Club members as usual cruised far and wide.  Excluding those who keep boats abroad, members cruised the East and South Coasts of Britain, and Holland, Belgium and France.  The club itself held several cruises, the best-attended being to Ramsgate over the August Holiday where the contingent was swelled by a considerable number of members rendezvousing on their return from more distant parts.

A major event for 2005 is to join the spectator fleet accompanying the Dunkirk Little Ships on their cruise to Dunkerque commemorating 65 years since their original daring voyage to help lift 240,000 British and 95,000 French servicemen off the beaches under enemy fire.  The MMYC contingent will be led by the Commodore, himself a Dunkirk veteran.  See this gallery for pictures from our return in 2000.

A photo of Past Commodore Mike Wilkin presenting the Commodore's Medal to the new Commodore Bob Jennings at the Commodore's Welcome Party.  (See how many times can you fit the word "Commodore" into a single sentence...?)

17 March 2004

The Annual Dinner Dance will be held one week later than previously advertised, on Friday 19 December.  Also, we will celebrate the Club's 30th Anniversary at this year's Commodore's Sailpast on 18 September.

Correction of typos on the dates of both events in November in the previous presentation of the 2004 programme.  Whoops!

The new Commodore and his team extend a warm welcome to MMYC's 30th Anniversary Year to members and all our boating friends!  Also see the club's provisional programme for 2004.

Some stills from the heated Paper Boat Race during our annual Open Weekend in May.  We have also added links to the three main UK chart correction services, Admiralty, Imray and Stanfords, which we hope you find useful.

1 April 2003

Small but perfectly formed!  This year MMYC has become something of a workers' collective and we are running with a small management team instead of the traditional squadron of officers and committee.  Despite the misnomer, see the Officers page for details of the new team.  Despite such a quality force, the club could not run without a large band of willing helpers, the members!

Also take a look at the outline programme for the year.
